Wink Bingo Matches Winners Donation
Recently online bingo circles were all abuzz with news of a bingo jackpot winner donating part of her winnings to a hospital. This Wink Bingo winner, Myra Carbin, donated £700 to the John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford for the purchase of specialised medical equipment. Quite touched by this generosity bingo site Wink Bingo decided to match Myra’s donation to the hospital. The John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford received two donations as a result.
Myra won a huge jackpot playing online bingo at Wink Bingo last September. She has had her house redecorated and has even gone on a smashing family holiday to Disneyland in Paris using the money she won. Myra also donated some of the money to the John Radcliffe Hospital in thanks for saving her daughter’s life six years ago. The little girl, then just weeks old, had emergency heart surgery performed by the doctors at John Radcliffe. She has been under the care of the Paediatric Intensive Care unit at Radcliffe’s since and is now a healthy six year old.
Just after the surgery Myra and her husband has decided that they would, some day in their life, do something for the doctors and nursing staff at the hospital. They had a debt of thanks to repay. “We said on that day that if we ever got the chance, we’d give something back to them. After the win we remembered how each piece of equipment had a little plaque on saying who had donated it so we thought that would be perfect. They use so many of the machines that we hope a new one will be a good help to them.”
Myra and her husband donated money to buy a special machine that automatically injects medication into very ill infants, at regulated intervals. Such equipment is a huge help in the Intensive Care unit for Infants as the nurses on duty have one less thing to do and so can devote their time to the innumerable other tasks in the Unit.
Wink Bingo was very touched by this gesture of the Carbins and decided to match the donation that Myra and her husband made to Radcliffe’s. The hospital thus ended up with a double bingo bonus, one from the bingo jackpot winner and one from the bingo site too. M. Karpes, Marketing Director, Wink Bingo commented saying “We were very touched when we heard about Myra’s story and were keen to do what we could to help. It’s a reminder that not only is bingo a lot of fun and you can win some fantastic prizes, it also presents an opportunity to put something back into the community and use what we have to do something good. We were delighted to be able to match Myra’s donation and buy more equipment for this amazing unit.”
The Chidren’s Development officer at the hospital, Penny Hambridge expressed great happiness on receiving the Wink Bingo cheque in addition to the Carbin’s donation. “We are extremely grateful to both Myra and Wink Bingo for their amazing donations to the Children’s Intensive Care Unit. Donations such as these enable us to buy equipment beyond what the NHS alone can fund and this is a wonderful example of how people in the Community can support the Hospital.”
This is an amazing example of the generosity of a bingo jackpot winner that inspired the very bingo site where she won to follow her example. Kudos to Myra Carbin and to Wink Bingo!
